Rag Doll Stretch
What Dirty Dishes?
Turn your back on those dirty dishes. Take a few minutes for this
tension relieving rag doll stretch, it will make you feel better but it
won't make the dishes disappear.Start with your feet about shoulder width apart, your arms at your sides, your knees relaxed and slightly bent. Inhale deeply and as you exhale tuck your chin down toward your chest and let your arms and shoulders start to droop. Breathing normally let your body continue to roll forward and notice your spine rounding. Allow your head, neck and arms to hang freely as your torso continues to lower. Continue to move very slowly and with awareness of what's happening in your body. Notice a stretch that might be occurring in the backs of your legs, across your shoulders or along the back of your neck. Continue to relax and lower with each exhalation. Allow your arms and head to gently sway in any way that feels good. Breathe deeply and feel tension dripping down through your arms and out through your fingertips.
To come back up, inhaling, press your feet into the floor and very
slowly allow your torso to curl up to standing. Let your head come
up last. To complete the stretch slowly lift your arms overhead and
take in a deep breath. Exhale and let your arms float back down to
your sides. Take a moment to close your eyes and notice how you
feel. What to do next? The choice is yours.
